Jon Roberts to give talk on Protestants’ Defense of the Sanctity of Mind
We are excited to announce that next Wednesday, April 27, at noon in room 504 of the History Department Building (226 Bay State Rd), Professor Jon Roberts (BU) will present his paper, “‘The Citadel Itself’: American Protestants’ Defense of the Sanctity of Mind, 1820-1870.”
Prof. Roberts is Tomorrow Foundation Professor of History at Boston University. He specializes in the intersection of religion and science in American history. His book, Darwinism and the Divine in America: Protestant Intellectuals and Organic Evolution, 1859-1900 (2001) won the Frank S. and Elizabeth Brewer Prize from the American Society of Church History.
