How did your experience in the program shape your professional and personal life?
The archaeology program at BU encouraged me to attend field schools, which provided me with a variety of hands-on experiences with bioarchaeology, human osteology, travel, and networking. It has also facilitated some of my closest friendships with students at BU, as well as some amazing mentor relationships with professors.
What interactions with members of the Archaeology faculty did you value most during your time in the program?
I greatly valued my interactions with professors during office hours and in class, as well as with my advisor. Every archaeology professor I had was extremely supportive of my personal interests, as well as of my classwork and drive to gain more experience outside of the classroom. I also value the connections I built with administrative staff through being a member of the BU Archaeology Society E-Board, as well as through heading our efforts to promote program spirit through group merchandise (custom ink) orders.
If you could give a piece of advice to your past self, what would it be?
1. Get to know your professors: take full advantage of the time you have at BU with amazing faculty and staff because those connections can be some of the most valuable, supportive, kind, and rewarding relationships you build throughout college.2. Find a therapist before you think you “need” one.
