What have you been doing since you’ve graduated? |
I completed my MSc and PhD in geoarchaeology at the University of Sheffield in the UK. This work was on Viking overwintering camps and landscape reconstruction. I worked as staff geoarchaeologist at York Archaeological Trust and Trent and Peak, where I worked throughout the UK, and then as Historic England’s Science Advisor for the southwest and Yorkshire. I am now working in TV, where I have worked on both scripted and non-scripted TV for National Geographic, NOVA, BBC, Channel 4, and History Channel/A&E. I am currently working producing BBC’s flagship archaeology programme, Digging for Britain. |
How did your experience in the program shape your professional and personal life? |
It was a fantastic basis for my career, and helped me understand archaeology more widely. |
What interactions with members of the Archaeology faculty did you value most during your time in the program? |
Prof Goldberg inspired me to take up geoarchaeology, much to Prof Beaudry’s dismay, but I managed to combine historical archaeology and geoarchaeology in the end! |
If you could give a piece of advice to your past self, what would it be? |
Appreciate every piece of wisdom given by Prof Beaudry! |
