A grand procession
Presidential Inaugurations have been a grand tradition since the early days of the University.
Professors march to Trinity Church for the Inauguration of Lemuel Murlin (1911-1924), BU’s third president. Murlin chose the “municipal university” as the theme of his presidency. Under his leadership, BU expanded by purchasing 15 acres of land between the Charles River and Commonwealth Avenue.
