Erica Johnson (COM’06) will have some extra cash to spend this summer thanks to the $2,000 award she received from the College of Communication. Johnson was the recipient of the 2006 Gerald Powers Public Relations Award given to a graduating senior who has displayed outstanding work in the field of public relations.
The monetary award, granted each spring at the discretion of a COM alumni committee, will help the Somerset, New Jersey resident settle into New York City this summer as she searches for a job in her new profession.
Established in 1999, the award is a tribute to Professor Emeritus Gerald Powers, who joined the COM faculty in 1964.
