Meet Shane Hinde and a couple of his classmates

Shane Hinde is among the thousands of freshmen who will make BU their home for the next four years.

Major: Undecided, but hopefully something in business

What convinced you to attend BU?

The campus — BU is right up there academically with the top schools, but the energy, location, and atmosphere of the campus set it apart.

What most excites you about coming to college?

Meeting tons of new people from all over the world and living someplace new.

What activities do you want to participate in?

A few intramural sports, student government, and the Alpha Phi Omega service fraternity.

Does anything about coming to college make you nervous?

Balancing a social life and the work load. Let’s not lie — I really don’t want to fail out.

Major: Biology with a specialization in Neuroscience

What convinced you to attend BU?

The distance away from my family.

What most excites you about coming to college?

Meeting new people.

What activities do you want to participate in?

Sports and pre-med activities.

Why did you want to become involved with the Facebook.com site BU2010?

I joined the Facebook.com site to meet people and see semi-familiar faces in Boston when I get there in September.

Has it helped you make friends?

Pretty much, as far as Facebook goes.

What is one of your goals for your first year at BU?
I hope to become involved in activities and have cool friends and — oh yeah — maybe learn a little.

What is an accomplishment of yours that you are most proud of?
Graduating high school, most definitely.

What will be your first stop when you start exploring the city of Boston?

Fenway Park, for sure.

Major: Operations Management

What convinced you to attend BU?

The city.

What most excites you about coming to college?

Independence.

What courses are you interested in taking?

Not sure yet; I prefer math, though.

What activities do you want to participate in?

I love athletics, so I’m hoping to do a lot of sports. I want to try out for the girl’s soccer team.

What will you miss most about home?

Most likely my friends.
