Old-Time Rock and/or Roll
Andrew Galante and his Alrighters play the Midway in JP on November 17. Click here to hear a preview.

Andrew “Panda” Galante, a typesetter in BU’s Office of Creative Services, has been a fixture at local ska and rockabilly shows for more than a decade. Since 2003, he has rocked and alarmed crowds from Boston to Brooklyn as frontman for the Alrighters, a ’50s-style R&B and rockabilly act often compared to Screamin’ Jay Hawkins. Backed simply by drums, upright bass, and baritone sax, Galante sings, roars, banters, leaps, leaves the stage and leaves the club, returns with props or new audience members, and generally raises a ruckus. He also dances with unerring rhythm.
The Alrighters play the Midway Café, 3496 Washington St., Jamaica Plain, on Friday, November 17, at 9 p.m.
