Students win awards for enterprise reporting in news radio
Patrick Anderson (COM'07) shared a first-place honor for enterprise reporting in college news radio.
A Boston University student and a BU alumna took first place for enterprise reporting at the recent Associated Press/Radio-Television News Directors Association’s New England Regional awards ceremony in Sturbridge.
Patrick Anderson (COM’07) and alumni and current teaching assistant Elizabeth Bassett (COM’07), both produced award-winning reports in Professor Anne Donohue’s Advanced Radio class last fall, and tied for the first-place award for enterprise reporting in college radio.
Anderson reported on a story about a coal fire in Pennsylvania that has been burning since the Nixon administration, and Bassett investigated “dumpster divers,” people who find daily meals in trash outside of restaurants and grocery stores. Anderson also received a second award for “use of sound” in a story about a bike race.
