ENG’s Eisenberg Named Chairman ad Interim
Solomon Eisenberg is the new ENG biomedical engineering department chairman ad interim.

Solomon Eisenberg, a College of Engineering professor of biomedical engineering, is the new chairman ad interim of the biomedical engineering department for the current academic year. ENG Dean Kenneth R. Lutchen says that he appointed Eisenberg because of “his long-standing leadership in both academic and administrative roles.”
A national search for a permanent chair is under way, and the college expects to be successful in recruiting from the outside, according to Eisenberg.
“My major task is to keep things moving forward,” he says. “The department has a lot of high-profile activities going on, and we want to continue to move in the right direction.”
Eisenberg is also ENG’s associate dean for undergraduate programs. He will continue in that role this year, working closely with the associate chairs for undergraduate programs in each of the college’s departments.
“I’m looking forward to all of it,” he says. “It’s only a matter of managing the time.” Eisenberg is familiar with juggling more than one role. He was dean ad interim of ENG during the 2005–2006 academic year.
