Two MED Graduates Named Massachusetts Medical Society Scholars
Two 2007 MED graduates, including Joe Feuerstein, received $10,000 awards from the Mass Medical Society.

Two recent School of Medicine graduates were recognized this spring as Massachusetts Medical Society Scholars. Joe Feuerstein (MED’07) and Wayne Moschetti (MED’07) each received a $10,000 scholarship from the society, which awards the scholarships annually to two fourth-year students from each of the four Massachusetts medical schools, based on academic achievement, community service, and financial need.
Feuerstein became an EMT during a two-year stay in Israel after high school. As a college student, he led a group of EMTs to Ground Zero after September 11, 2001. In medical school he was involved in several clubs and founded a Jewish interest group on the Medical Campus called the Maimonides Society.

Moschetti first became interested in medicine when he volunteered at a hospital as an undergraduate at the University of New Hampshire. At MED, Moschetti was active in the Student Committee on Medical Student Affairs for four years and in the Outreach Van Project, which brings basic health services to Boston’s underserved population.
Both scholars begin residency programs this month. Feuerstein will train in internal medicine at Boston Medical Center, and Moschetti will be a resident in orthopedic surgery at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center.
