A Look Back at Juno
BU community captures the blizzard in photos
It began slowly Monday afternoon. And like an uninvited guest, it hung around far too long. When it finally departed late Tuesday night, the massive blizzard nicknamed Juno had dumped 24.6 inches of snow in Boston, making it the Hub’s sixth biggest snowstorm in 80 years.
The storm, which was accompanied by strong winds and wind chills of zero, led Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker to impose a statewide travel ban. Public transportation was suspended on Tuesday. The blizzard forced the closure of public schools and area colleges, including BU. (Classes on the Charles River Campus were canceled for two days; the Medical Campus was shut down just on Tuesday.)
As the biggest storm of the century (so far) descended on the city, BU Today reached out via Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and Weibo and asked the BU community to share photos of the blizzard. Our thanks to all who braved the cold and snow to capture the event.
