Boston Baroque returns to opera with Handel’s rare Amadigi di Gaula
Boston Baroque returns this April to opera with a new production of Handel’s Amadigi di Gaula.
This is Boston Baroque’s first co-production with Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra & Chorale, a period instrument orchestra based in San Francisco. The production stars countertenor Anthony Roth Costanzo in the titular role, with mezzo-soprano Daniela Mack as Dardano, soprano Amanda Forsythe as Melissa, and soprano Camille Ortiz as Oriana. Stage director Louisa Muller (Metropolitan Opera, Wolf Trap) brings together a spectacular crew that will transform GBH’s Calderwood Studio into an immersive concert experience with dynamic lighting, projections, and costumes.
