Carly Stewart (’17)
Carly Stewart was born and raised in the city of Troy, New York where she witnessed firsthand the wonderful changes that the arts can bring to an area. Carly graduated from Marist College in Poughkeepsie, New York in 2015 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Digital Media with minors in Business Administration, Graphic Design and Photography. At Marist, she directed the senior art exhibitions throughout the year which involved organizing fundraising events, marketing plans, overlooking branding and advertising design, tracking finances, attaining off-campus exhibition spaces and curating along with completing personal artwork to provide for the shows. The process of managing these exhibitions directed her interest in becoming involved in the combination of arts and business as a whole. Due to her worthwhile undergraduate experience in the director role, she decided to explore the Arts Administration path directly after.
Upon moving to Boston, Carly has worked as the Graduate Assistant at the Boston University School of Visual Arts. She also works part-time as the Assistant Web Director for Boston Design Guide. During her time in the Arts Administration Graduate Program, Carly worked with Artist Resident, Elisa Hamilton, during her Visual Arts Programming Internship at the Boston Center for the Arts. She also joined the Artists For Humanity team as an intern working on specific internal projects with the organization’s Director of Program Operations. Following graduation from the Arts Administration program at BU, Carly begun her new role as the Marketing Coordinator at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston in December 2017.
Boston University’s Arts Administration Master’s program gives me the opportunity to expand my knowledge and interest in the arts and business as a whole. I am able to further explore the art world and develop relationships that provide firsthand perspectives from successful Arts Administrators in all different realms and backgrounds in the Boston area and beyond. The program’s flexibility allows one to complete their degree while working.
