Meng Wang (’18)
With a degree in Chinese Dance Performance from Beijing Dance Academy, Meng Wang is now a graduate of the Arts Administration master’s program at Boston University. Ten years of professional training in dance has equipped Meng with a solid knowledge of dance technique, choreography, and dance pedagogy. This knowledge has developed her aesthetic sensibilities in a profound way. She aspires to improve herself through the Arts Administration Graduate Program at BU to connect what she had learned with the necessary administrative skills.
Meng has participated in many large-scale performances and dance drama, including the solo performer in the Opening Ceremonies of 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, as well as lots of performances held in the National Grand Theater of China. She also taught at many Chinese dance training clubs and universities while interning at TAO Dance Theater as an Administrative Assistant. These invaluable experiences exposed her to art management and influenced her to pursue the field of arts administration. After arriving in the U.S., she was invited to Chinese dance groups and academies to teach, which largely enhanced her communication skills and immersed her in the local arts environment.
With a strong passion and love for the arts, Meng expects to utilize her arts administration skills while trying to assimilate the many diverse cultures in the U.S., so as to accurately convey the cultural traditions and artistic styles of different performing arts to an engaged public.
This program opened my eyes to the huge possibilities of the art world. The program not only provided me with hands-on management knowledge, but also opened multiple channels to access various resources relevant to my interests. The skills obtained in this program are of great importance to fulfill my future career as both an arts representative and administrator.
