Robert Jones (AR 753 – Current Trends in the Performing Arts Industry) is an advertising, marketing, and public relations professional with over 20 years of experience in the theatrical industry focused on creating and managing entertainment and cultural brands, Robert Jones has directed campaigns for over 100 Broadway shows and other performing arts institutions. Starting his career in management, he company-managed the off-Broadway production of The Awesome 80s Prom and was the Assistant Company Manager of The Drowsy Chaperone (Broadway, pre-Broadway Los Angeles). Robert joined the world of theatrical advertising, managing campaigns at Serino/Coyne and SpotCo including Wicked, Beautiful, The Color Purple, Something Rotten!, Follies, How to Succeed…, Promises, Promises, and Second Stage Theater. Robert spent a brief time in central Florida managing marketing and public relations at Orlando’s brand new Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts, providing strategy for the Broadway in Orlando (BAA) series and over 50 A-list one night concerts and engagements. Recruited by Ambassador Theatre Group in 2017 to reopen the newly renovated Emerson Colonial Theatre in Boston and develop the marketing and public relations department, Robert led integrated localized campaigns for the acclaimed and hugely successful pre-Broadway engagements of Moulin Rouge! The Musical, David Byrne’s American Utopia and Matthew Broderick and Sarah Jessica Parker in Neil Simon’s Plaza Suite. In 2020, Robert relocated back New York City, where he currently serves as the Senior Vice President, Head of Theater at AKA NYC, leading the theatrical division of one of the leading advertising agencies handling theater, live entertainment, cultural institutions, and destinations in the world. Among the agency’s client roster are Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, & Juliet, Here We Are, Second Stage Theater, A Beautiful Noise – The Neil Diamond Musical, Water for Elephants, the recent productions of Parade, Funny Girl, Good Night, Oscar, and New York, New York, as well as the upcoming The Wiz, Sunset Blvd., Hell’s Kitchen, and Cabaret. He is an Industry Specialist member of the Broadway League.
