The Department of History and Philosophy, North South University would need immediately Faculty at Assistant/Associate Professor level for the History part of the Department.
Candidates who have just obtained their Ph.d would be offered the post of Assistant Professor and those having a few years’ teaching and research experiences would be offered the post of Associate Professor.
The candidates at the moment will be teaching History of Bengal/Bangladesh from the ancient period to the present day. Those who have specialized in South Asian History would be eligible for the post. The present job of the successful candidate will be to teach some aspects of Bengal history and develop the syllabus of Master’s degree in History having the approach of modern day history teaching as in practice at the moment in Europe and USA. The M.A. Degree will be offered from Fall 2015. A centrally adopted syllabus will be followed but there will be room for modifications by every faculty at the beginning of each semester. Although there will be no fundamental changes as the syllabus will be approved by the University Grants Commission.
The search for Faculty would include advertising in International forum such as Chronicle of higher education jobs -history later. Meanwhile personal initiative would do the job.
The salaries of the foreign faculty are negotiable. The starting point of negotiation will be the salary the candidate will expect to receive either as Assistant Professor or Associate Professor in the USA.
The successful candidate would be given one way plane fare.
The Faculty would be given free accommodation.
Taxes may be given either at home or in Bangladesh.
The appointment may be given for one year but renewable on satisfactory performances. Each year there are three Semesters namely, Spring, Summer and Fall. The faculty might take leave for any semester but only upon getting a replacement.
Each Semester is of four months duration and the faculty has to take four (4) classes each week plus 2 mid-term examinations and one final examination. It is a general practice that the Faculty has to perform all the necessary academic activities of the Department as well as of the University.
All other demands are negotiable.
