Joseph is a PhD student working in the BU White Dwarf Group with Prof. JJ Hermes. Joseph is interested in studying ancient remnant planetary systems around white dwarfs stars, particularly those that show transits from debris disks and intact planets. These systems may be offering a glimpse into what the Solar System could look like in the far, far future. They also provide clues to what the geochemical makeup of extrasolar planets are. Joseph is also invested in mining large time-domain surveys like Gaia and the Zwicky Transient Facility for white dwarfs varying in brightness due to other processes.

Outside of the office Joseph can probably be found at the Coolidge Corner Theater, one of New Hampshire’s 4000 foot peaks, or the BU Pub. Joseph also serves as a member of the Bargaining Team for the Boston University Graduate Workers Union (SERIU 509).
