Project STORY
The goal of Project STORY is to learn more about how the brains of preschool-aged children with and without autism function during live social interactions. We hope that findings from this study will help researchers better understand how brain function is related to language and communication skills in children with autism.
Project STORY is no longer recruiting participants. Thank you to all of the families who participated in this study!
Who can participate?
- Children (3, 4, and 5 year olds) with no known developmental delays or disorders
- Children (3, 4, and 5 year olds) with a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder/ASD
What does participation involve?
During one or two visits to Boston University, your child will…
- Watch videos and listen to stories while wearing a fNIRS cap (read more about fNIRS here!!)
- Complete play-based assessments with a researcher
- Read a book with you!
What will we receive for participating?
- Gift card compensation
- Small prize and book for your child to take home
- Free parking
- Report of your child’s performance on our assessments, upon request
How do I sign up to participate?
Here is a link to our screening form. This screening form will ask you questions about your child’s development. Once you have consented to our screening process and we have determined your child’s eligibility, we can schedule your visit to Boston University.
