A Quartz Crystal Micro-balance with Dissipation Monitoring (QCM-D) utilizes the acoustic property of quartz to analyze molecular interactions on the material surface. Any layer of molecules forming on the surface of the quartz crystal will create subtle changes to the frequency of oscillation and its duration.
