3/7/19 Laboratory Manager in the Department of Pharmacology at BUSM

A Laboratory Manager position is available in the Department of Pharmacology & Experimental Therapeutics at Boston University School of Medicine. The ideal candidate for this position has an interest in the field of cancer biology and should be highly motivated, organized, and detail oriented.  Although preferred, no prior experience is necessary as all candidates will be trained upon hiring.  The Lab Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operations and overall management of two laboratories on the 7th floor of the Silvio Conte building.  The Lab Manager will serve as a resource to the students, staff, and faculty and responsibilities include,

 

  • Monitoring inventory
  • Ensuring all reagents and supplies are available when needed
  • Initiating purchases of equipment and supplies
  • Maintaining contacts with vendors and searching market to determine availability and cost of equipment/instruments to meet needs of the center
  • Ordering and receiving all research and office supplies
  • Maintaining equipment performance
  • Ensuring research safety and compliance
  • Communicating and enforcing laboratory safety rules to internal and external researchers working in the lab space
  • Orienting and training new personnel
  • Serving as liaison between research center and external vendors, by establishing professional networks
  • Managing approved budgets
  • Managing invoice disbursements & personnel reimbursements
  • Acting as primary emergency contact
  • Organizing seminars
