Our Research & Development Division’s Adsorption, Distribution and Metabolite Identification group with in Pharmacodynamics, Pharmacokinetics and Drug Metabolism Department in Boston, MA is seeking a highly motivated co-op graduate student to conduct research in drug metabolism of small molecules with emphasis in glucuronidation and glucuronosyltransferase reaction phenotyping.   Some responsibilities will include:

  • Quantitative reaction phenotyping:  ISEF’s for rhUGT enzymes and liver/intestinal microsomes
  • Literature review and deployment of acceptable isoform selective probes and inhibitors including pressure-tests.
  • Explore the use of UGT antibodies or siRNAs.
  • Optimization of UGT kinetics assay including low turnover compounds and UGT inhibition assays.
  • Enzyme kinetics work to qualify selective probe substrates based on EMA feedback.

We are seeking co-op candidates with a strong academic performance, communication skills, teamwork, and the ability to work in a multi- functional environment.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Candidates must be available to work full-time for up to 6 months beginning in January or June of 2020.
  • Candidates must be a second to fourth year graduate student pursuing a degree in biology, biochemistry, chemistry or related fields with particular emphasis in enzyme kinetics.
  • Candidates must have experience with in vitro enzyme incubation and LC-MS/MS is highly desirable.

Preferred Experience and Skills:

  • Candidates should have Invitro enzyme experience
  • Candidates should have drug metabolism of small molecules experience
  • Candidates should have Enzyme kinetics experience
  • Candidates should have LC-MS/MS
  • Candidates should have a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
