Boston University School of Medicine and Metropolitan College is hiring part-time course educators to teach evening courses on the Medical Campus for Spring 2020.
GMS BT 110 [4 credits] Introduction to Biological Laboratory Techniques
Prerequisites (successful completion of the following college-level courses: one semester of biology with lab, two semesters of chemistry with lab, and algebra or higher).
This course provides a theoretical and practical foundation in laboratory science. Students are introduced to the scientific method, laboratory mathematics, chemistry, biochemistry, cell and molecular biology, and immunology. Students lean hands-on solution making, electrophoresis, protein quantification and other commonly used laboratory methods. Emphasis is placed on lab safety, proper handling of instruments, careful following of written instructions for lab procedures, maintenance of lab notebooks, and data collection, presentation and analysis.
Course educators are expected to develop and teach the course. The course educator/s will collaborate with the Director of Biomedical Laboratory & Clinical Sciences Program.
Required Skills
Ideal candidates will have the following qualifications: prior teaching experience, biomedical research experience, ability to teach at the undergraduate level.
