Do you like flowers? Are you creative? If you answer yes to either question. This is for you! What is Ikebana, some of you might ask. It is a form of flower arrangement art that is originated from Japan. Did you know that floral art has become an elegant tradition that pass from one generation to another in Asian culture? In addition, both men and women alike found Ikebana an excellent pastime activity in Asia. Check out ASIABU's Ikebana workshop to see if it will become a new hobby of yours. Many people have the misunderstanding that Ikebana is difficult to learn just like any other art forms (i.e. painting, sketching, etc), but if adequate instructions are provided many amateurs can freely and creatively make their own masterpieces. This workshop will open your eyes to the beauty of how different materials (such as flowers, branches, leaves, seed pods) work harmoniously together, depicting the beauty of nature. After this workshop, you will walk away with insights for understanding the delicacy, creativity, artistry and traditionalism of flower arrangement art. What is more fun than to cultivate your interest and trying Ikebana right here on campus? We are proud to announce Xiaopei Luo as our workshop presenter. She will showcase her former Ikebana work through powerpoint slides along with her educational presentation on the topic, follow by a live demonstration. Students will also have a chance to try out flower arrangement under supervision.
