Mark Kon applies the principles of quantum information and computation, as well as machine and statistical learning to solve long-standing sources of optimization problems. He is also affiliated with the Bioinformatics and Computational Neuroscience Programs.

Research Areas

  • Quantum probability, computation, and information, with applications to the fields of computational biology and statistics, particularly focusing on protein folding, RNA structure, and DNA transcription.
  • Machine learning in bioinformatics and computational biologyincluding the inference of  gene regulatory networks as well as the identification and classification of distinct types of cancers based on biomarkers like gene variation or microRNA.
