Engineering has a reputation for being a lucrative major, but College of Engineering graduates experience an even greater return on their investment, according to a new report. PayScale, the world’s largest database of individual salary profiles, has ranked the ENG number eight in its annual list of the best undergraduate engineering schools by salary potential.
Featured in a recent Business Insider article, the PayScale ranking places midcareer salaries of ENG graduates near the top of 207 engineering schools nationally. This ranking is just the latest plaudit for the college, which U.S. News & World Report ranked number 35 on its list of best graduate engineering programs nationwide.
“This recognition is tremendous validation of the value of a Boston University engineering degree,” says ENG Dean Kenneth R. Lutchen. “It is another indicator that our graduates are highly successful in their careers and are being well rewarded for their efforts to improve society.”
The PayScale report put the average midcareer salary of an ENG graduate at $138,000.
WOW! As a School of Management grad, 1955 captain of the hockey team and Professor at SMG for 25 years, I’m very proud of these results.
I retired at age 79 in 1909
Very nice article but it doesn’t give statistics on how many of your graduates from undergraduate actually get entry level jobs. My son is still looking and the school is no help. Career counseling leaves a lot to be desired.
