In August 2018, 28 alumni of BU’s men’s rowing gathered in Chicago for their ninth annual group baseball outing. The “Boys of Summer,” made up of alumni from the Classes of 1995 to 2002, have a mission to attend a game at each of the 30 Major League ballparks together. In 2018, they watched the Chicago Cubs host the Washington Nationals and the Cleveland Indians play at the Chicago White Sox. “Colonel Rob Walker (CAS’98) (far left, in the gray polo shirt) took a leave from an active duty deployment and traveled directly from Saudi Arabia to join his teammates in Chicago,” writes Adam McNeill (CAS’98) (far left, in the green T-shirt) of Milwaukee, Wisc. The tradition began in Milwaukee in 2010 and since then, 37 alums have attended at least one of the 9 trips (to 11 ballparks). This summer, they will attend a Philadelphia Phillies game.
