Harry Flannery

Harry Flannery (LAW’73) of New Castle, Pa., retired in January 2019 after working in-house counsel roles at the Fortune 200/500 Company FirstEnergy for more than 41 years. Before retirement, he was senior corporate counsel there. Now, he is of counsel at the Law Office of Flannery, Seltzer, Harper & Palmer in New Castle, Pa. He is also the manager and owner of Castle Security, LLC, also headquartered in New Castle. “I am married 50 years [as of June 2019] to the former Maureen Flaherty and have two children, Preston and Courtney, and four grandchildren,” he writes. Harry’s books include Rape: The Whole Truth and Nothing but the Truth, So Help...!: A Historical Look of Society’s Failure to Appropriately Respond, Innocence Under Attack (Edgewood Press, 2017) and Are You Predestined?: The Words of John Calvin and Martin Luther Compared (WestBow Press, 2015). “I hold another law degree, a JD from Ohio Northern University College of Law, and a BA from Ohio Wesleyan University. At Boston University School of Law I received an LLM in taxation. The LLM degree opened doors; I was the trust legal officer at the Pittsburgh National Bank overseeing and advising in retaxation matters from 1973 to 1977. At FirstEnergy, I oversaw taxation litigation from 1977 until this year. The LLM program at BU was second to none.”
