Aditya YedetoreCo-organizer“I’m a fourth year graduate student in the Linguistics Department at Boston University, working with Professor Najoung Kim. I am interested in semantics, syntax, and language acquisition. My current work involves comparing linguistic generalization in neural networks and children. I am also completing research on the semantics of motion predicates under Professor Elizabeth Coppock.” |
Romi HillCo-organizer“I’m a second year PhD student in the Linguistics Department at Boston University. I’m interested in morphology and its interfaces with syntax, semantics, and phonology. I’m fascinated by how form and meaning interact in complex words, especially in typologically diverse languages. My current research include a semantics-based analysis of reduplicated reciprocal verbs in Indonesian, and the documentation and description of Alabama, an endangered Muskogean language.” |
Xinhan JiangCo-organizer“I’m a second year PhD student in the Linguistics Department at Boston University. I’m interested in syntax and syntax-semantics interface, as well as psycholinguistics that uses experimental evidence to test and refine syntactic theories. My current research includes the syntax of wh-coordination in Mandarin Chinese and the OV/VO word order variation in the Wu dialect of Chinese.” |
Danutham Worapipat (North)Co-organizer“I’m a third year PhD student in Linguistics Department at Boston University. I’m interested in syntax and its interfaces with morphology and semantics. I’m curious about how similar meanings are expressed through different structures cross-linguistically. My current research includes syntax of argument structure in Thai such as passive-like and unaccusative-ditransitive constructions, agreement and co-compounding.” |
I Meng LinCommittee member“I’m an MA student in the Linguistics Department at BU. I am interested in experimental phonetics and its interaction with semantics and pragmatics, especially in the suprasegmental features. My current work includes the prosodic effects of focus in Hangzhou Chinese. I am also interested in the sound changes across Chinese languages as well as the history of linguistics.” |
Michael AmpeCommittee member“I’m a first year masters student here at BU’s Linguistic’s Department. I am interested in a wide range of subjects, but especially historical linguistics, which a speciality in Indo-European (and within that, Germanic, Romance, and Ancient Greek). I am also fascinated by sociolinguistics and how language change occurs on the small-scale and the effects of modern globalization and the internet on dialectal diversity and minority languages, and thereby also language preservation and how it adapts to the modern day.” |

Teagan SeltzerCommittee member“I am a first-year Masters student in the Linguistics Department at Boston University. My research interests are primarily in sociolinguistics, particularly with respect to dialect and gender variation. I’m curious about the linguistic realization of gender through morphology and dialect in non-gendered languages, like English and Japanese.” |
