Location

The conference will be held on the second floor of Boston University’s George Sherman Union (GSU) at 775 Commonwealth Avenue, Boston, MA, 02215.

If coming by public transit (MBTA): The route that will bring you closest to the GSU is to take the Green Line “B” to the Boston University Central stop (right across the street from the Union). Alternatively, Bus #57 will also let you off right by the GSU (heading east, at the Commonwealth Ave & Carlton St stop; heading west, at the Commonwealth Ave & University Rd stop). Information about the MBTA is accessible here.

If driving: Please consult BU Parking for lot prices, locations, and hours. Nearby/recommended parking lots are the Granby Lot (overflow to the Kenmore/Agganis Arena Lots) for Thursday-Saturday and the Agganis Arena Lot for Sunday.

Accommodations

For students looking for a room share at the conference, you can share contact information and preferences here.

For your convenience, we often blocked a number of rooms at a discounted BUCLD rate in several hotels, most of which are in close proximity to the BU campus. Further information about these rooms are forthcoming.

You must book the reservation yourself, but please refer to either the phone numbers or the booking links listed in order to receive the discounted rate. As only a limited number of rooms are available at each hotel, it is advisable to book as soon as possible. Unreserved rooms will be released for general sale at higher prices after the posted cut-off dates.

Only major hotels allow us to block rooms. But for your convenience we have also compiled a list of smaller accommodations, along with a list of recommendations from past conference attendees.

Please keep in mind:

  • Most places require a credit card to make a reservation.
  • We recommend booking a room as early as possible!

IV. Your recommendations!

Past conference attendees spoke highly of the following places:

Travel Awards

Paula Menyuk Award

The Paula Menyuk Award was established in honor of Paula Menyuk, Professor Emerita of Boston University and one of the founders of BUCLD, to assist student presenters at BUCLD by offsetting some of their travel expenses with a stipend of up to $350. The awards are funded by grants from the National Science Foundation, as well as by private donations. Preference is given to first authors, top-rated abstracts, applicants with the greatest need, those who have not previously received a travel award, and individuals from historically marginalized communities.

Submissions for the Paula Menyuk Award will open on April 1, 2024.  The deadline for submissions is June 15, 2024.

The application deadline has now passed.

Diversity Travel Fellowship

The Diversity Travel Fellowship is funded by a grant from the National Institutes of Health for the purpose of promoting diversity in science. The award is meant to assist students who are interested in attending BUCLD by subsidizing their expenses for attending (travel, lodging, registration). Applicants are encouraged to list all costs associated with attending BUCLD.

Students need not be authors on abstracts to apply. Preference is given to applicants with the greatest need, those who have not previously received a travel award, and individuals from historically marginalized communities.

Submissions for the Diversity Travel Fellowship will open on April 1, 2024. The deadline for submissions is July 15, 2024.

The application deadline has now passed.
