Career Ambassador Program

The Center for Career Development (CCD) Career Ambassador Program at Boston University is a peer education and outreach program that enlists a diverse group of undergraduates to support the center’s efforts to increase student awareness of and engagement with CCD programs and resources.

Career Ambassadors have the opportunity to help fellow Terriers develop their career readiness and career development skills. Additionally, ambassadors have access to professional development, leadership programs, team building, and staff mentors. Meet the current ambassadors!

Career Ambassador Teams

While all Career Ambassadors work collaboratively as one united team, Ambassadors are split into three sub-teams.

Qualifications

A strong candidate is reliable, detail-oriented, creative, collaborative, and able to work independently. They will be able to inspire a sense of community, provide and accept feedback, work on a team, and be a professional representative of the CCD.

The CCD seeks to build a team balanced in experience, skills, background, and interpersonal strengths in order to meet the wide-ranging needs of the diverse BU student population. Factors include school/college, major, and graduation year, among others. Please note that we welcome and encourage applicants from all BU schools and colleges.

Eligibility Details

  • Must be a full-time undergraduate student in good academic standing.
  • A cumulative 3.0 GPA is strongly preferred but all applicants are encouraged to apply.
  • Must commit to working both semesters in the same academic year.
  • Must commit to working 10 hours each week during regular business hours (9:00am-5:00pm); and occasional evening and weekend hours.
  • Must commit to attending mandatory fall training and weekly meetings (Fridays, 4:00-5:00 pm when classes are in session).
  • Must commit to attending the mandatory three-day program training prior to the start of classes (Thursday, August 28 – Saturday, August 30, 2025).

The application includes a series of short essay questions. Please allow enough time to craft thoughtful and personal responses. If you would like guidance in drafting your answers, please connect with one of our Writing Fellows in the ERC’s Writing Assistance Program.

You may be asked to supply an academic or professional reference. It is not too early to begin thinking about who would be able to speak to your qualifications.

Candidates will be notified of their application status within three weeks after submitting their completed application. Applicants invited to interview will meet with the Student Engagement Manager and a current Career Ambassador. The interview will include a brief presentation and a series of questions. Please plan accordingly.

Finally, offers will be extended no later that the last day of class of that given semester, and all future ambassadors will be expected to complete the hiring process before leaving campus for intersession or the end of the academic year.
