How to Schedule an Appointment with your Academic Advisor:
Academic Advisors:
|
At the Time of Your Appointment:
- In-person: Please arrive 5-10 minutes early to check in. You can find the meeting address in the calendar invite sent at the time your appointment is scheduled (check your BU email) or by going to your MyBU Student Dashboard and selecting Advising > Appointments > Actions > View. If you arrive more than a few minutes late, you may need to reschedule.
- Virtual: You will receive a calendar invite with the Zoom link when your appointment is scheduled. You can also find the appointment and link by going to your MyBU Student Dashboard and selecting Advising > Appointments > Actions > View. This Zoom link will not be hyperlinked, but you can copy and paste it to join the meeting. If you arrive more than a few minutes late, you may need to reschedule.
Cancelling, Rescheduling, or Switching Formats of Your Appointment
- To cancel an appointment, navigate to your MyBU Student Dashboard and select Advising > Appointments. Click ‘Actions’ for the applicable appointment and then ‘Cancel.’ Enter a message explaining why you need to cancel and then click ‘Confirm.’
- To reschedule an appointment, navigate to your MyBU Student Dashboard and select Advising > Appointments. Click ‘Actions’ for the applicable appointment and then ‘Reschedule.’ Select a new date, time, and mode from your advisor’s availability and then click ’Schedule.’
- If you need to switch formats (virtual or in person) after scheduling your appointment, please email your advisor.
- If you have any further questions about how to schedule or manage your appointment, you are encouraged to email your academic advisor to ask for help. You may also find the Advising Appointments Guide for Students helpful.
Faculty Mentors:Some departments assign faculty mentors in addition to your academic advisor. To determine if you have an assigned faculty mentor, go to your MyBU Student Dashboard and select Academics > Advisor Information. Here you will see all listed advisors and faculty mentors along with their contact information. Faculty members schedule appointments in a variety of ways, but they typically do not schedule through MyBU. If you’re not sure how to arrange a meeting, email them to ask. Please make sure to provide an explanation of why you’d like to meet. |
