For courses completed within the United States:

CAS students requesting transfer credits for language courses completed outside of BU and inside the US, must complete the Transfer Credit Pre-Screen form found on our Forms & Procedures page.  Students from other schools and Colleges at BU should contact their colleges advising office to receive the appropriate form.

Upon completion of course students must arrange to have an official transcript mailed to CAS Advising, 100 Bay State Road, Room 401 or sent electronically to casadv@bu.edu.  Only courses from an accredited institution with a grade of “C’ or higher will be considered for transfer.

If you plan to complete language courses outside of the US, you will go through Study Abroad.

1) Language courses offered through a BU Study Abroad program

Language courses taken through a BU Study Abroad program should automatically apply.  Please contact CAS Advising with any questions.

2) Equivalences for language courses offered through a non-BU External Study Abroad program

If you plan to complete language courses outside of the U.S. through an External Study Abroad program, you should consult the following website (http://www.bu.edu/abroad/findprograms/for-bu-students-only/external-programs) and/or contact the Program Manager for External Programs for more information. The first step is to get approval for the program from BU Study Abroad.  Once the program has been approved, bring the signed “External Program Study Abroad Transfer Credit Form” along with language course descriptions and syllabi to CAS Advising, 100 Bay State Road, 4th floor.  The language courses will be then equated by a CAS language advisor.
