First Offenses:

The process for resolving a first offense of academic misconduct is outlined in the BU Academic Conduct Code, Sections IV and V.

Second Offenses:

If you have already been through the Conduct process and previously signed the Admission of Academic Misconduct form, or sat in an academic conduct hearing, then the option to resolve the incident with only a grade penalty and letter of reprimand is no longer available.  The process for an academic misconduct hearing is outlined in the BU Academic Conduct Code, Section VI.I.

Reporting Out:

Are you going to a professional school or graduate school once you graduate from BU?  If so, then it is likely that you will be asked about your academic conduct record during your undergraduate studies.  Please work with your pre-professional or academic advisor to answer these types of questions honestly.  While all incidents of academic misconduct are maintained internally within CAS Advising, it is our responsibility to disclose this information if asked by a professional or graduate program to which a student is seeking admission.

If you find yourself involved in the conduct process, please feel free to contact CAS Advising at any point to schedule an appointment with one of our Conduct Advisors: 617-353-2400.
