Underrepresented both in terms of background and regional focus, Bosnian and Albanian scholars have much to contribute to research on their regions of origin and expertise. The limited scholarly interaction to date between those in Bosnian and Albanian studies mirrors historical divisions, linguistic differences, ad hierarchies between Bosnia and Kosovo within Yugoslavia, as well as with Albania proper. These divisions, however, exist alongside richly intertwined histories and cultures. This panel featuring early career scholars of/from Bosnia and Albania seeks to foster fruitful conversation and exchange among those from a region that is too often spoken about from outside, not only advancing the conversation between these two communities, but also bringing Balkan studies into conversation with studies of Europe, the Middle East, and the “Muslim World.”
