Mission Statement

As developmental scientists, we believe that we are responsible for producing translatable knowledge to inform the creation and evaluation of methods for supporting children’s healthy emotional and behavioral development, as well as for preventing and ameliorating psychopathology.

In pursuit of this mission, our research examines the biological, behavioral, and environmental factors that influence development, for better or worse, from infancy to early adolescence. Key to this work is understanding how various aspects of children’s self-regulation and temperament influence the links between early experiences and children’s development across time.
