Infant Coping and Development Study (ICAD)

“My son and I had a great experience participating in a study at the BEE lab!  The researchers could not have been more accommodating, and I found the exercise with my son to be interesting and enjoyable to watch.  He was happy, I was happy, my toddler daughter who tagged along was happy, and we’d wholeheartedly encourage others to join this or other studies in the future.”

“The BEE lab was tons of fun for my little one and interesting for me to be able to contribute to important research! Carmel and Vicky were extremely friendly and helpful, we’d love to participate again!”

“The staff at the BEE Lab was incredibly helpful and pleasant to work with. They explained everything and made the experience easy for me and my baby. It was rewarding to spend a few hours contributing to a scientific study while doing something new and exciting for him!”

My daughter and I had fun participating in the BEE study at Boston University. The whole process was explained very well throughout so that we knew what to expect. She enjoyed playing with all of the toys and getting her young scientist certificate at the end!

“Muchas gracias por la atención y oportunidad de que mi hija haya participado en sus estudios, es importante como mamá ver en que etapa se encuentran los niños y como se desarrollan, si podemos apoyar que mejor con personas especializadas y tan atentas como ustedes. Bendiciones y gracias por su amabilidad, atención y oportunidad de haber participado con ustedes y poder aportar algo importante para los demás padres.”

“The BEE study we participated in was interesting and fun! We need more cognitive and developmental studies so we can learn more about the impact of various experiences on baby development, but I know it can be hard to find participants. The researchers did everything they could to make sure the time passed quickly and that that my baby was happy and comfortable, and the study itself was interesting to watch. I would definitely participate again!”

Stress Hormones in Early Learning and Development (SHIELD)

“My daughter and I had a great time at the BEE lab! The activities were fun and stimulating and I was surprised at how much she could do! It was a fun way to get out of the house and do something different.”

Mind and Attention Processes in Preschool (MAPP)

“I brought our 5 year old in for a study, and we had my 3 year old with us as well. The staff excelled at keeping our 3 year old happily entertained while our older daughter participated. Our 5 year old really enjoyed the activities in the study, and everyone was wonderful with her. I felt like everything was explained very clearly to all of us, and the staff has personalities that are very well suited to their work. Both children had a lot of fun, and it actually took me 5 or 10 minutes to convince them it was time to leave at the end! This was the second study we have done at BU (the first at the BEE Lab) but I am sure we will be back because it was an easy and fun experience.”

Language and Mind Project (LAMP)

“My 7 year old daughter had a lot of fun participating in your study this week. The researchers were very nice to both her and me, and she loved being the focus of attention in the study (she’s one of three sisters). I would recommend having friends sign their children up to participate too, in fact I already have!”

Social Experiences and Early Development Study (SEED)

“I decided to participate in the SEED Research Study because of interest in learning more about my son’s development. I have not been to the lab yet (we had a home study), but everyone seems very friendly. To other moms who are thinking about participating in research – try it out! What we have done so far has been noninvasive. I would go to the lab [if invited] because it sounds interesting”

“My daughter regularly participates in research studies. However, the BEE Lab’s were her favorite, where she had the most fun. I knew she would enjoy herself prior to participating when given a description. We enjoyed everything! The cap, the toys, the songs, the games – my daughter had a ball! And the friendly playful researchers of course! We most certainly would come back. The BEE Lab is fun period! Love it! Please don’t hesitate to bring your kids, they’ll have lots of fun in the lab, and won’t want to leave!!”

“I chose to come to the BEE Lab to see what the study was about and understand more about my son’s development. The stipend for participating didn’t hurt either. I didn’t really have any reservations about coming in – everything was explained so I was prepared. I think the best part about our experience in the lab was when the electrode cap was put on his head. I would come back, depending on the study. It was a pretty welcoming environment and it was interesting. The tests were easy and non-intrusive. The only thing that takes a little effort are the saliva samples, but even those weren’t a major inconvenience.”

Mapping Intelligence and Neural Development (MIND)

“It was a well and fun MIND study. It was new to my daughter and I. We both experienced and learned today. She is doing good at her age and exploring. We also enjoyed the team of researchers; they were very nice and friendly. ‘Team work makes the dream work!’ We are looking forward for the second part. We can not wait!”

“I enjoyed coming in because everyone in the lab was wonderful with all of my kids. I could tell everyone in the BEE Lab is enthusiastic about their work, and it shows in the way they work with the kids. I highly recommend partaking in studies!
