CDS Atrium named for BU President Robert A. Brown & Beverly A. Brown

On May 18, University and civic leaders joined faculty, staff, and alumni at the Center for Computing & Data Sciences for a signature moment in BU’s history: a celebration of outgoing President Robert A. Brown and Dr. Beverly A. Brown. Members of the Board of Trustees, including Chair Ahmass Fakahany (Questrom’79), Vice Chair Malek Sukkar (ENG’92), and Nathaniel Dalton (LAW’93), shared remarks, reflecting on the Browns’ many achievements during their 18 years of service to BU. The Browns were also recognized by longtime friend Rob McCarron, President and CEO of the Association of Independent Colleges & Universities in Massachusetts.

As the event closed Fakahany announced the creation of an endowed fund for the Robert A. and Beverly A. Brown Faculty Fellows in Computing & Data Sciences. This fund, built through donations from numerous BU alumni and friends, will support the scholarly pursuits, including research and related travel, of distinguished faculty members in CDS. Fakahany also unveiled a prominent plaque in the Center’s Atrium, formally and permanently renaming the space in honor of BU’s 10th president and his wife.
