Lecturer or Senior Lecturer

The Faculty of Computing & Data Sciences invites applications for non-tenure-track part-time lecturer positions, beginning as soon as January 1, 2022. Qualifications include a Masters degree (required) or PhD degree (preferred), or equivalent experience in any of the disciplines that span computing and data sciences and a strong commitment to teaching and curricular innovation.

Founded in 2019, the Faculty of Computing & Data Sciences (CDS) is a university-wide, degree-granting academic unit comprising scholars and researchers in core and applied areas of computing, computational, and data-driven inquiry. The Faculty will be housed in an iconic 19-story building with a convention-bending design inside and out at the heart of the BU Campus. Additional information about the Faculty is available at https://www.bu.edu/cds.

In the Fall of 2021, CDS will be launching its signature undergraduate BS degree program in Data Science. Successful candidates will contribute to the roll out of this program, carrying out a workload equivalent to teaching at least one introductory or intermediate undergraduate course covering foundational and core data science topics, including programming and software engineering, data structures and algorithms, and the mathematical underpinnings of data mining and machine learning. Depending on the candidate’s qualifications, teaching responsibilities may extend to practicum courses in software engineering, data mining, machine learning, and AI.
