Aldo Pacchiano

Assistant Professor of Computing & Data Sciences

Aldo Pacchiano comes to BU as an Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Computing & Data Sciences (CDS). His research lies in the areas of Reinforcement Learning, Online Learning, and Bandits and Algorithmic Fairness. Aldo is particularly interested in furthering our statistical understanding of learning phenomena in adaptive environments and use these theoretical insights and techniques to design efficient and safe algorithms for scientific, engineering, and large-scale societal applications.

Originally from Mexico City, Aldo obtained his PhD at University of California, Berkeley under the advisement of Peter Bartlett and Michael Jordan. More recently, he was a Postdoctoral Researcher at Microsoft Research NYC.

Aldo will take on his new role as Assistant Professor at the Boston University Center for Computing and Data Sciences in 2024 following a one-year appointment at the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard where he will work on novel mathematical, computational and algorithmic paradigms for biomedical research.
