Alishah Chator

Postdoctoral Researcher

Focus: Applied Cryptography & Privacy

Alishah earned his PhD in computer science at Johns Hopkins University under the guidance of Prof. Matthew Green, specializing in applied cryptography. He seeks to bridge the gap between cryptographic theory and real-world application, ultimately benefiting those who need robust privacy tools the most. His research is centered on making privacy-preserving protocols practical by identifying and addressing unanswered research questions that hinder their deployment.

During his postdoc at CDS, Alishah is shifting his focus towards designing tools tailored to communities with significant privacy needs. He is also gaining more experience in usability research to better inform his work. Beyond CDS, he is actively involved in organizing the Community-Driven Crypto seminar, dedicated to foregrounding the privacy and technology needs of marginalized communities. In his free time, he enjoys running and attempting to master his mom's recipes. Learn more about Alishah.
