Leo Liu, MD

Leo Liu is a medical consultant specializing in infectious diseases and global health. He is a former editor for ProMED (the Program for Monitoring Emerging Diseases), a global disease surveillance network that was the first international organization to report on the SARS-CoV-2 outbreak as well as many other epidemics. His professional career began in academic medicine at Harvard, where his work focused on molecular parasitology and tropical diseases. Leo then went into the biotechnology industry, first as a research director at a public genomics company, and then as a founder of start-up companies engaged in antiparasitic and neurology drug discovery.

Leo received his MD from Stanford and postdoctoral training at Harvard Medical School and Imperial College, London.
