Mission:
To support the development of a robust engineering workforce through programmatic offerings and contributing to the body of knowledge on mentoring.
Goals:
Pathways and Mentoring has two overarching goals:
Goal 1: Pathways
Expand participation at all levels within CELL-MET, creating pathways into engineering, and coordinating with technical goal (IEGs) teams in planning varied activities
Goal 2: Mentoring
Conduct educational research and activities and practices centered in mentoring and professional development
Some of the actions we are taking to achieve these goals are:
- Partnering with technical IEG teams to create and plan activities that support and expand participation
- Offering high-quality research experiences for undergraduate students, high school students, and teachers through our REU, RET, and REM programs
- Provide mentor training for mentors and mentees across the entire CELL-MET community
- Create opportunities for individuals to contribute to the center at all levels
- Create researcher- and practitioner-focused resources to support the development of pathways and mentoring opportunities beyond the bounds of CELL-MET
