Research Interests
I am interested in studying the social relationships of engineering students that can help them succeed and persist in the field. To examine their social relationships (i.e., mentoring), I take a qualitative research approach and use the community’s cultural wealth as a theoretical lens. This perspective enables me to gain a deeper understanding of the experiences of students with diverse backgrounds and how they navigate their career interests in college. I am also interested in understanding the safety leadership of workers and various employment issues related to retention and recruitment at a company. My work is primarily contextualized in civil engineering but can be applicable to other engineering fields.
