CELOP is Boston University’s intensive English language program and we are here to help you fulfill the English proficiency requirement and succeed in your degree program.

How do I enroll at CELOP?
Will I be accepted to CELOP?
Yes! You will definitely be accepted to CELOP if you apply.
What program should I apply to?
We recommend you apply to one of our 12-week programs for the maximum benefit from your CELOP studies:

When will I receive my I-20?
You will receive your CELOP I-20 after you apply to CELOP and before you begin CELOP classes.
Can you tell me more about on-campus housing?
CELOP students are eligible to apply to live in university housing. Living on campus is a great way for you to experience university dormitory life and interact with a roommate. If you want to live on campus, you must first submit an application and be accepted to CELOP.
Is there an application fee?
Yes, the CELOP application fee is $110. In addition, there is a tuition deposit fee of $100.
When can I begin my studies at Boston University?
Once you have met the English proficiency requirements to the satisfaction of the Boston University Board of Admissions and have been offered admission to a full-time degree program, you can begin studies the following semester. Please note that the Questrom School of Business provides September intake only.
What if I don't meet the English language requirement during my CELOP program?
Keep trying! You may continue your language preparation in our CELOP program in the fall semester and re-take the TOEFL during that time.
Do I have to attend CELOP?
You do not have to attend CELOP for acceptance to Boston University. However, CELOP is a great way to strengthen language and gain familiarity with the BU community.

Application Instructions
Step 1. LOGIN to the Online Application using your BU Login name and Kerberos password
- Do NOT click “Create Account”.

Step 2. Start a New Application
- Select the semester you are applying for.
- If you do not see your desired semester, do not start an application for a different semester.
Supporting Documents
Passport: Upload a copy of your passport to the application.
Financial/Bank Statement: Upload a copy of your financial/bank statement.
Step 3. Pay the application fee & submit your application
- This fee is non-refundable and non-transferable.
- The $100 tuition deposit is a separate payment made later in the process.
