Professor, Lighting Design

Mark Stanley is head of the BU Lighting Design program. His professional credits include serving currently as Resident Lighting Designer for the New York City Ballet, where he has designed lighting for more than 225 world premieres for their repertory, including works for Peter Martins, Alexei Ratmansky, Justin Peck, Christopher Wheeldon, Susan Stroman, William Forsythe, Kevin O’Day, Mauro Bigonzetti, Ulysses Dove, and many others. He has designed for ballet and opera companies across the United States and Europe and his designs have been seen on PBS Live From Lincoln Center and Great Performances.

Previously he served as Resident Designer for New York City Opera. He has designed off-Broadway and in regional theatres across the US. Mark is co-founder of Studio School of Design and is Vice President on the board of The Hemsley Lighting Programs.
