Internationally known trumpet soloist Terry Everson isn’t one to blow his own horn, but the College of Fine Arts assistant professor has plenty to say about the skills of his students. The BU Trumpet Ensemble, under his tutelage, has been admitted to the Semi-Final round of the Small Ensemble Division! The ensemble is composed of Neal Andrews (DMA 2017), Janet Christensen (MM 2017), Matt Allen (MM 2018), Kayleigh Neff (BM 2019), Peter Everson (BM 2019), and John Johnson (BM 2020). Aaron Scoccia (MM 2017) is also a Semi-Finalist in the Graduate Division!

In other alumni news, John Vitale (BM Music Education/Trumpet Performance 2015) is representing the University of Texas at Austin in the Graduate Division, and Andy Stetson (DMA 2013, now Assistant Professor at Texas Tech) placed two groups in the Small Ensemble Division, and another in the Large Ensemble Division! Also, Becca Zeisler (Collaborative Piano MM 2012) has joined the NTC piano staff, and is playing with 18 competitors among the Junior, High School and Undergraduate Divisions.

Among the Boston University Tanglewood Institute alumni, Viv Lawrie, Sarah Jessen and Micah Reinharz placed in the High School Division, Bret Magliola, Noah Dugan, John Wagner, and Haidar (Hamid) Barbarji placed in the Undergraduate Division, and Tammy Vaughn placed in the Graduate Division (in which she placed 2nd last year).

Overall, a huge congratulations to all BU-related students and alumni!
