Visiting Artist Iman Habibi working with students in the Young Artists Piano and Composition Programs

What a summer! BUTI from Anywhere was a great success, with more than 200 students from 28 states, 7 countries, and 3 continents, zooming in at all hours and from all types of locations for lessons, masterclasses, electives, concerts and recitals, and “hangs!” It was incredibly inspiring to see the talent and commitment of our students, faculty, staff and guests as we travelled this remote journey together. Check out this short video that gives you a taste of the experience.

This newsletter seeks to celebrate all that happened, and thank all those who made it possible – from Carriage House Violins, our new string program sponsor, to the National Endowment for the Arts, the ASCAP and Fromm Music foundations, and the hundreds of individual donors who supported BUTI from Anywhere. Special thanks to our BUTI Advisory Council members for their leadership this year, and welcome to the newest member of this group, BUTI alumna Charlotte Lee.

We’re delighted to be turning our attention now to Summer 2022. In case you haven’t heard, Joseph Conyers (BUTI’98) returns next summer to direct the Young Artists Orchestra. This summer, he joined us as our Artistic Advisor and Artist-in-Residence, and we are thrilled to have him continue in this new role.

We will be back in touch with program and application information throughout the fall as plans are solidified. Until then, we send our best wishes for the beginning of the school year. Be safe, kind, and well!

With gratitude and appreciation
