Returning to an in-person campus experience at CFA
Nothing beats the energy and excitement of being together on campus!
Thursday, September 2, 2021, marked more than just the start of another new school year at BU College of Fine Arts. It marked the return to a fully residential campus for the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic struck in March 2020. In-person classroom instruction is back (goodbye to Zoom), and masks, weekly COVID tests, and daily attestations are a part of everyday life.
After a year and a half of a virtual learning environment, our students are hopeful and thrilled to be on campus, socializing with their peers and appreciating the beauty of live art. Our faculty are looking forward to teaching their craft to students in person. Like Kirsten Greenidge, CFA associate professor of playwriting and theatre arts and BFA Performance co-chair, says, “I’ve been amazed at the innovation, created by necessity, of virtual theatre. But this mode of practicing art cannot replace the humanity that is experienced during live theatre, and in order for students to fully learn and practice their craft, in-person interaction—that allows for shared breath and space and tangible community—is imperative.”
Welcome home, Terriers! Here are a few of our favorite moments from move-in, Matriculation, and the first weeks of the fall 2021 term!
