BU Presents Art House: A Live Audience Filming of an Original TV Comedy Pilot at Joan & Edgar Booth Theatre
The co-production between BU College of Fine Arts School of Theatre and BU College of Communication Department of Film & Television brings an evening of laughter and a behind-the-scenes look at the making of an original TV comedy pilot; April 27-May 6.
Boston University College of Fine Arts School of Theatre and BU College of Communication Department of Film & Television have teamed up to bring laughter as well as a behind-the-scenes look at the making of an original live-action television comedy pilot to the Boston community through Art House: A Live Audience Filming of an Original TV Comedy Pilot at BU’s Joan & Edgar Booth Theatre from April 27-May 6.
Art House, a co-production of BU College of Fine Arts School of Theatre and BU College of Communication Department of Film & Television, introduces the audience to a young woman who returns home after a bad breakup and discovers her brother has turned their Boston family home into a workplace for struggling artists. Be a part of the live studio audience as this original multi-camera sitcom is performed and filmed each night at Booth Theatre.
Watch the episode – written by students from COM’s film and TV and CFA’s playwriting programs – unfold as we film the action, reshoot as needed, and run through scenes. All filming, editing, cinematography, and directing will be helmed by film & television students, with acting, design, production, and management provided by theatre students.
“I am thrilled to embark on this collaborative journey with faculty and students from Film and TV. This retro TV/Live experience will be engaging, energetic and entertaining. The students are in the room together showing what we need most these days……laughter.”
This exciting, first-of-its-kind experience bridges programs from across the University, as students make history together.
The TV pilot is set to premiere in late 2023.
“Art House is a wonderful opportunity for students from different disciplines and programs to work as a team bridging the gap between Film & Television and Theater.”
