Exhibition Opportunities for Students
Gallery@BUAI
Are you a BU student interested in showcasing your art? Students from both art and non-art majors throughout Boston University’s 17 schools and colleges working in any medium at any level are invited to submit art to be showcased and shared with the broader BU community.
Gallery@BUAI hosts two to three exhibitions per semester. Submissions are accepted on a rolling basis. The call for submissions is open to a variety of creative mediums, including 2-D and 3-D works. To be considered, students should submit at least 6-10 images. These can be scans or photographs of artworks. Smaller submissions will be considered for group shows.
Selected artworks must be framed or mounted for hanging. Please reach out if framing or printing is needed. If you have questions about exhibiting, please contact artsinbu@bu.edu to talk to a Gallery Committee member. Please use the submission form below to be considered.
BUAI Window Installation
The GSU stairwell boasts one of the largest and most visible installation opportunities for Boston University students in the student union. Students are welcome to submit graphic designs or digital art for consideration to be displayed in the BU Arts Initiative office windows. BU Arts Initiative covers the work to be printed and provides the selected artist with a prize.
Submissions must be formatted to the following dimensions: Triptych with dimensions 87” x 34” per panel, to fit three big windows above the stairs (87”x102” total). Please use our artwork submission form to be considered.

“A lot of my work represents snippets of my own life through a kind of nostalgic, dream-like lens. Often I paint with a bigger focus on experimenting with shape and color rather than meaning. I like to be bold with a bit of a personal quest for boldness in real life. I draw a lot of inspiration from my favorite illustrator Tomer Hanuka, especially his expressive color palettes and character designs. Most of my recent artwork has been done digitally, but I usually sketch on paper first. I also enjoy painting with watercolor, acrylics, and oils.” – Sonia Bolshakova

Yuka Masamura (CFA’25, COM’25)

“I grew up in Japan. I never imagined that I would live outside of the country until the huge earthquake and tsunami hit Japan in 2011, leaving everyone devastated. I became scared of water after the heartbreaking event, but this view changed over time. Fearful of the radiation leak, my family ended up moving out of Japan. I lived and studied away from home and my family kept on moving from one place to another. I felt very lost like I didn’t have a place that I could call home anymore. However, through many encounters that touched my heart, I learned that home for me is where people I love are – which is now everywhere across the globe, crossing the ocean. Through this piece, I wanted to share this comforting and magical feeling of home transcending space, even the vast ocean. I made the patterns thinking of origami papers that I grew up folding. I hope that when people look at this in the GSU, they are excited and comforted like BU is their new piece of home.” – Yuka Masamura
